Graduating With Your Momma

Being away from the parental units was probably one of the biggest perks of going away to college. I remember feeling totally liberated about not having to worry about a curfew or eating my vegetables – it was great! But what if my parents wanted to go back to school…with me?

UC Davis Veterinary Medicine student Angelina Gerardo is getting ready to graduate with her mom, Sharon. Yes, college looked so great that Momma Gerardo decided to jump on the bandwagon and join her daughter at school.

After being rejected to vet school back in the 80’s, Sharon decided it was time to marry and start a family (ironically, she married a veterinarian). When her daughter Angelina was applying to vet schools, Sharon faced her fears of rejection and began to fill out applications which eventually led to an acceptance at UC Davis.

I wonder, was mother Sharon a big hit at college parties? Was she the type of gal to participate in a friendly game of Kings or was she a kegstand kinda girl? Were they like the Gastineau Girls of UC Davis? I’d like to think they were.
