After a tumultuous year with administration, editors of The Chronicle walked out and will launch The Quad News on August 25. The Quad News is an online newspaper independent of Quinnipiac University. While The Chronicle still exists, it lacks the support of former editors, staff writers and advisors.

The Quad News consists of the same editorial board that ran The Chronicle, but with new additions. A financial team was recruited to help draft a business plan for the online paper. Funding will begin with donations from editors and their family and friends. The rest of the money will come from advertisements.

According to the Editor in Chief, The Quad News will cover “all aspects of campus life, including breaking news stories for campus news and sports.” Unlike The Chronicle, where stories could only be updated when the hard copy came out once a week, The Quad News will be able to cover and update stories as they happen. It is a newspaper by the students for the students and that sentiment alone is what will make it a success.

Right now, The Quad News needs all the support it can get. Spread the word on this exciting new venture as we exercise our freedom of speech and freedom of the press.
