On the Road Again...Wisco Style

We Win, We Booze
We Lose, We Booze

The next time Wisconsin decides to actually beat Michigan in football, you should reboot your liver, grab a jersey, BBM everyone you know in Ann Arbor and take a road trip to the place that served us a monster ass-kicking this past weekend. The minute football tickets were released, my friends and I were figuring out pit stops and who was in charge of snacks for a weekend filled with football, beer, and everyone we know from Wisconsin. Even though we lost the game, we definitely did not lose our ability to out-drink the Michigan kids. You may know how to carry your team, but we know how to carry our liquor. But the next time you want support your Red and take a road trip to the Blue, remember that it’s about the journey and not the destination; as long as the journey includes fast food, deli stops and heavy drinking.

Half way through your road trip, when you and your friends are deciding where to eat, pull off into Chesterton, Indiana where all your fast food dreams will come true. Some of your friends want burgers and fries while others want ANYTHING else? Not a problem! Chesterton has everything from McDonald’s to Coldstones, Pizza Hut to Wendy’s. So if you are like us and get excited by how many fast food places you can spot, stopping in this small town is totally worth the meal and not so much for your waistline.

Once you arrive in Ann Arbor and get rid of the fast food evidence, you should definitely head over to Charley’s where you can enjoy a nice margarita on their patio where you can spot all the Wisco kids you know from your English class. Even though it is a total place to be seen, it’s worth the food and the people watching.

If you want to be less of an Alcoholic but still want something sweet, Rods has all the fro-yo and chicken fingers a girl could ask for. And because there is no place to get a descent serving of frozen yogurt on our campus, getting a collider (jumbo size fro-yo with any mixture of toppings) was definitely on the menu, twice. Mix any of your favorite toppings while spotting your friends on the hundreds of pictures that cover this place: now this is what I call living on the edge, or living large.

And after a weekend full of beer, burgers and bad decisions, don’t forget to make a stop at Zingerman’s, a deli that offers amazing sandwiches along with everything else you would every want. When ordering, make sure you order your sandwich large. It’s a long ride home and you wouldn’t want to disrupt your ‘I ate too much’ theme of the weekend.

Yes, I did all of this in just 3 days but it was totally worth it. My trip would not have seemed complete without fast food fries and turkey on rye. So the next time you make a road trip out of the Wisconsin v. Michigan weekend, make sure to see all your friends, hit all the hot spots, and serve them a monster ass-kicking, badger style.
