After an ongoing battle with the university’s administration, the editors of The Quinnipiac Chronicle will be investing their time in a new project. The editors have banned together to form a brand spanking new online newspaper set to debut this upcoming fall semester.

Quinnipiac administration and The Chronicle staff have been at odds since 2006 when an article was published alerting the campus of two basketball players urinating on a student. When the local newspapers contacted the University President John Lahey about it, he informed them that he was unaware of the incident. After suffering the embarrassment of being clueless to the campus he rules, Lahey quickly had all breaking news emails (sent to students before the paper edition is printed) come to a screeching halt along with early online publication of the newspaper.

Editor Jason Braff’s head was on the cutting board with university officials threatening to withhold his stipend and relieve him of his position. That's when The Chronicle staff became fed up and was ready to start fresh.

The Quad News (as it is being called now) will be an entirely independently run online newspaper. For some further clarification – Quinnipiac will not be providing any funds to the newspaper!

Now that The Chronicle's staffers have resigned from their posts, university officials are left asking themselves if The Chronicle should be kept alive. Maybe now The Chronicle can serve the campus community as an events calendar or a booklet of advertisements for local businesses instead of student-run newspaper.
