Guess what, froshies? The U of O has no place to put you this fall. Make yourself at home in the gutters because you're not gettin' my dorm spot!

According to a recent article in The Oregonian, the U of O is scrambling to rustle up housing for incoming freshmen – a class that is at least a 400 student increase from last year.

Of the 3800 students expected to become Ducks for the 08-09 school year, on-campus housing is only available for about 3600, with some of those spots go to upperclassmen. 

That's right: me.

The university recently struck a deal with an off-campus apartment complex near Autzen Stadium to house some of the overflow, while other single rooms on campus will be converted to doubles.
 
Uhhh, call me crazy but do any of the upperclassmen want frosh roaming the Commons this fall as we celebrate our return to school?  The last thing I need is an f-ing dorm RA to come break up my party because the 18-year-old three doors down can't sleep.  The university better keep those kids in closests converted doubles.

Kate Peterson, the assistant provost for enrollment management at Oregon State said the Beavers are facing the same problem.

Traditionally, when the economy slows, college populations swell, she told the paper. “The opportunity to work, or the availability of funds to do other kinds of experiences seem to be less available.” 

OSU should take some of our over-flow.  They've got LOTS of space up there in Corvallis.  Besides, it wouldn't hurt the Beavs to have a few extra fans in their stands.
