Paterno Calls College Football "Bogus"
Joe Paterno's going to do and say whatever the hell he wants at this point. Not like that's really any different than ever before. But at 81-years-old he seems like your grandfather who's seen it all and just doesn't give a f*ck about what you think anymore, he's buying 40 cans of cat food every time he goes to the grocery store. And so, with that in mind he can stand up and tell college football it's "bogus" that they don't have a playoff system. Whoa! Watch the language Joe.

JoePa was in Pittsburgh earlier this week (buying his tickets for the New American Music Union festival no doubt) and as I said he called out the Division 1 Football Bowl Subdivision for not having a playoff system to pick a national champion, but actually the most telling quote from the appearance is this quote from Paterno when asked when he thought a playoff might happen: "I'm only going to be a head coach another 10 or 15 years, and I don't think it will happen by then."

Now in the Associated Press article, the writer said Paterno "laughed at his own joke," after he made the "10 to 15 years" comment. Well, guess what kiddo, he ain't joking. I think the man really thinks he will be coaching for another 15 years. Yikes!

Anyway, Paterno, like any rational human being in the country with an interest in college football, says that a playoff system is the only true way to select a champion and he thinks teams "ought to win it on the field." But the big complaint about a playoff system is that it would extend the season and cause players to miss more days in class. But as Paterno points out, that doesn't stop college basketball.

"You can talk about missing class and all that kind of stuff, [yet] you see basketball go on forever. You have a lot of bogus excuses, but obviously the majority of people who have the say don't want it," Paterno said.

You forgot to mention the money part Joe. It's all about the money.
