Findings from the most recent study by the University of Mississippi's Potency Monitoring Project concluded that levels of THC (the psychoactive substance in marijuana) are on the rise.

Good news: due to increased levels of THC, pot smokers will experience a high like no other and if they're lucky, they could even benefit from a heightened out-of-body sensation. Sweet. Plus, think of the beneficial effects on medical marijuana patients. 

Bad news: higher THC may result in paranoia, increased heart rate, panic/anxiety attacks, psychosis, depression, and schizophrenia. Stronger drugs also mean stronger addictions. So don't think it'll be easy to quit your crazy college habits right after graduation when you to score that 9-5 job.

Why the increase in THC? Or better yet, how? It could be due to more sophisticated growing techniques as well as drug traffickers who circulate more potent products in order to effect addiction on their customers.

I guess those Latin Americans really know how to grow their weed. If you look at it in a different perspective, maybe we should congratulate them for a new milestone in pot-growing. Thanks to them, we've reached a new all-time level of 9.6% THC. Sounds so much better than "stronger marijuana leads to addiction." What a downer.

You also have to consider who sponsored this study--the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), and the University of Mississippi. No wonder the findings go against pot. If it were a Colorado university, it would be a different story.
