Saving The World One Student At A Time
Strategically placing recycling bins near trash receptacles is simply not going to cut it anymore. After hundreds of years of polluting Mother Earth, the business world has finally shed some light on an eco-friendly approach to doing business and living life. In lieu of the success of the "Go Green" campaign, colleges are also jumping on the bandwagon of trying to salvage what's left of the environment.

Colorado State has recently constructed a new dining hall, called "Ram's Horn" which will serve more eco-friendly dining options as well as cutlery made from recycled resources. Harvard students are also taking a stand against pollution, The Harvard Sustainability Pledge is breaking records with over 8,000 people pledging their support to going green. This number surpassed 2006's results by about 1000 pledges. This campaign is run by The Harvard Green Campus Initiative, which is an environmentalist group that hope to supplement electricity with solar panels and teach students simple ways of saving energy.

Colleges are also hosting tons of Eco events to raise awareness about our depleting resources and how we can pitch in to make this a cleaner, healthier environment. Back in March, Boston University hosted The Gender Fest Ecofeminist Awareness Dinner which was an event meant to get the word out to women about the role they can play in living ecologically-sound lives. Duke University hosts an Eco-Olympics every year to encourage students to go green. Unfortunately, the University fails to make much of a difference because of the lack of school participation in the event. Seems like The Harvard Green Campus Initiative should make a pitstop at Duke and help those students out!
