UF Loses to Ole Miss, Rankings go Haywire

When I watched Grey's Anatomy last week and everyone was up in arms about Seattle Grace being ranked a number 12 teaching hospital in the country, I thought they were pretty stupid. "Number 12 isn't that bad," I said, "At least they're still ranked, what are they complaining about?"

Then came Saturday and the Gators lost to Ole Miss...by one point. One blocked kick that kept us from tying the game and perhaps coming back to win in the last few minutes. As if that wasn't painful enough, the new AP rankings were just released, and UF plummeted from number 4 to number 12. Now I know firsthand that it really does suck to be number 12.

And we're not the only ones feeling the sting. USC, which was ranked 1 last week, also lost to an unranked team and is now down to number 9. Georgia, last week's number 3 team got pummeled by Alabama who is now sitting pretty at number 2. Georgia is now at number 11.

These are just a few of the big upsets of this crazy football Saturday. Overall, nine ranked teams lost this weekend, six of them to unranked teams. Click here to see where your team landed after this weekend's carnage.

I'm no sports analyst but I do know that something has to change if we're going to salvage this season. There are harder opponents ahead and we have to bring our A game if we're going to come out victorious. Because, dammit, we are not a number 12 team!
