Hypothermic Hazing at Duke

Hypothermic Hazing at Duke
DukeHazing that is way, WAY too ridiculousAwww, isn't sorority pledging too cute
Last week, allegations against the off-campus Duke University Fraternity, Alpha Delta Phi, surfaced. One of the pledges, Daniel Klufas, was hospitalized after being hazed by some of the brothers.

According to reports, Klufas was ordered to remove all of his clothes, at which time the brothers of the house presumably doused him with freezing cold water. When Klufas began shivering uncontrollably, it’s believed that one of the brothers started pouring hot water on him to counter the chilling effect. The combination of cold and hot sent Klufas into even more intense shivering, and then shock. He was brought to the hospital where he was treated for hypothermic shock and seizer.

Klufas’s parents have hired a private investigator and an attorney – both very bad signs for the Alpha Delta Phi’s. Check out the News Report here.

Pouring cold water on someone is not the worst hazing horror story I’ve ever heard (that honor goes to the incident with bobbing for apples in month old vomit), but it’s definitely one of the stupidest. This type of abuse crosses the line, and I have no idea why people stand for it. People shouldn’t have to partake in any practices that could be life-threatening, gay, or outlandishly embarrassing.

Stripping down several guys, so other guys can enjoy pouring cold water on them sounds a little gay to me. Wait....it sounds really gay. The Frat is stupid to pour hot water on a hypothermic person, clearly duke isn't as smart as i once though they were. Posted 06/24/2008 2:06 PMReply
