Besides the Fat Sandwich challenge everyone knows about, there's a lesser known eating contest right on Easton Ave., close to the Somerset intersection. Paulie's Pizza has their 14+ lb monster of a meat lover's pizza called the "Paulisaurus Rex" by eating contest enthusiasts (we all are one, aren't we??).
It costs around $50, and two people must be able to finish the whole thing in an hour. Apparently only a competitive eater and his friend ever completed the challenge, though there's been no lack of trying by our local amateurs.
Last Friday two brave souls tried to tackle the Pauliesaurus Rex, to no avail. The partners topped out at a third of the time before the hour was passed. They spent the rest of the evening in pain, throwing up whenever more pie came up.
The price for winning would be $250, which I'm not sure is worth consuming several hundred thousand calories for. The leftovers were consumed by the two contestants' friends, and the general consensus was that it tasted more or less awful.
