Zen and Manure
By Valencia Chang (Chief Contributor) Tags: farming, biodynamic, manure, compost

Biodynamic farming may not be all the rage now, but this slightly cult-like agricultural phenomenon may bring salvation to our overly processed and polluted world. It's core idea is to treat the farm as an organism, and reject any kind of man-made outside components in the process of growing food and raising livestock, taking the concept of organic to a whole other level.
The ultra-spiritual practitioners of biodynamics use differently numbered "Preparations" in readying the soil and compost for different functions, and they do so by adding a very small amount of ingredients such as chamomile-stuffed cow intestines or quartz powder to the compost, to achieve the same effect as any industrial fertilizer, pesticide, or any other additive.
Sounds interesting? Read more about it on their Wikipedia page, and see if this is something you would like to look into in reducing your carbon foot print to negative.
