Harvard Law to Help Legalize Weed

When most people get caught smoking bud (marijuana) they usually follow a set step procedure:

  1. They get angry because the cops just took away their weed.
  2. They angrier because they realize that they’re going to have to pay a huge fine.
  3. And they get even more angry because they can’t understand why smoking responsibly should be illegal.

Then they bite their lip and pay the fines.

After getting busted with possession by an undercover police officer Richard Cusick and R. Keith Stroup followed the first three steps but refused to lay down to the law.  They have now turned to Harvard Law School professor, Charles R Nesson, for guidance. They will make the argument that the outlawing of marijuana has no “rational basis.”

I have to say that I’m on Cusick’s and Stroup’s side. I really don’t see what the big deal is with smoking a little joint (or blunt).  It’s understandable that weed, when smoked improperly (i.e. when driving) can be somewhat dangerous. But what can be said about alcohol?

Weed can make you lazy and destroy a person’s ambitions, but this effect only last so long as the persons high. The smokes not good for you, but I can’t imagine it’s any worse than what the cigarette smoker endures each day. So what’s wrong with smoking weed?

I’m guessing there’s three reasons why M.J.’s illegal. First, the government didn’t move quickly enough to regulate the growth and sale of it.  Second, there’s no quick equivalent to the breathalyzer for weed; three, those making the laws have never tried it, and if they have they saw something in themselves that they didn’t like.

Whatever the reason, the criminalization of the drug seems unjust… Luckily there are people like Cusick and Stroup fighting for the cause.

Hi!
I will be on the official election ballot in Vermont 2008 for U.S. Congress, House of Representatives and for Governor of Vermont 2008,
and my name is Ms. Cris Ericson.

MAKE MARIJUANA LEGAL dot com

The State Legislature of Vermont just passed a new
HEMP law, making it LEGAL to GROW HEMP in Vermont
under state law.

It is still illegal under federal law.

The State Legislature of Vermont previously passed a
MEDICAL MARIJUANA law, and that is still illegal
under federal law.

PLEASE VOTE FOR ME FOR U.S. CONGRESS
so I can work to make HEMP, MEDICAL MARIJUANA and
MARIJUANA legal under federal law.

Please vote for me for Governor of Vermont because
the Governor can grant pardons!

Did you know that there are almost up to 2,000 marijuana arrests and convictions a year in the State of Vermont; and everyone with a conviction, for no matter how tiny an amount, loses their rights to federal loans and federal grants to go to college?

That means in the past ten years, about 20,000
Vermonters have lost their rights to apply for federal loans and grants for college.

The entire
population of Vermont is only about 620,000 people.
That's just TOO HIGH a percentage of the entire population to be IGNORANT.

We really need to make marijuana legal.
Once marijuana is legalized, then anyone with an addiction problem, like some people have for other equally dangerous products like alcoholic beverages or chocolate which leads to obesity, heart attacks and diabetes, etc.,
can get HELP without first
going to jail!

Environmentally concious Vermonters don't want to eat paraquat and other chemicals the United States government has sprayed on marijuana fields in other countries,
but how much of these chemicals do you consume when you buy foreign grown fruits and vegetables
that are grown in fields
adjacent to marijuana fields
which have been sprayed with eradication chemicals?

Harvard Business students will want to know
how many businesses they have to compete with
which have been funded by laundered drug money.

Remember, as long as marijuana is illegal,
the drug lords launder the money by buying legitimate businesses,
businesses YOU will have to COMPETE with
despite the lack of ETHICS
the competing businesses will be run with!

I could go on and on, and believe me I DO!
That's how I came in 3rd out of 6 candidates for Governor of Vermont in 2006
AND I came in 3rd out of 6 candidates for
U.S. Senator of Vermont in 2006.

I have been smokin for the past couple of yrs. I do admit to being high and behind the wheel on several occassions, but i also believe that the prior statements are true. There should def. be a way to make weed legal... there's just so many ppl that love it. It may be used for medicinal reasons or just for recreation. Idk, i just think that since Marborol is one of the best tobacco distriutors, i think they should def be one of the first companies to produce "weed/cigs" for purchase if leagalized!!! Marijuana prohibition puts good citizens in jail where they learn to be criminals. Pot prohibition creates crime. Legalize it for the sake of humanity, it's the moral responsible thing to do. Stop being hypocrits you bunch of drunk government basturds. Posted 09/09/2009 12:18 PMReply
