Need a Great Rainy Day Activity Today?

Tired of the big budget film festivals that charge you $10 a pop just to watch a movie or two?  I'm not naming any names, cough RIFF cough, or anything, but seriously - $10?  Haven't you ever heard of YouTube?

The Southern New England Independent Film Festival is changing things up.  With a FULL DAY pass only $6, you can catch the latest and greatest short and feature films that Rhode Island filmmakers have to offer.  Just get yourself down to Newport -- The Mainstay Inn at 151 Admiral Kalbfus Road is the scene of the crime -- cough up the $6 and check 'em out.  Okay, it's not a movie theater, but the seats are more comfortable than you might expect for a conference room, and the giant flat screen television makes it worth the ride.

Movies start at 1pm today, and the last screening starts at 10:40 pm.  That's a whole hella lot of movies for the price, don't you agree?  The full schedule is available online, but I will tell you that in addition to my friend Mike Messier's short film, Sacrilege, (the embedded YouTube clip) today's line up includes comedies, science fiction, horror, documentary, and fantasy.  And, sorry, no porn, at least as far as I can tell.
