It was announced that the fourth presidential debate will take place at one of St. John's bigger academic rivals: Hofstra University. The debate will focus on domestic and economic policies.
While this is all well and good, why not St John's?
Needless to say I am bitter over the decision.
Here are some reasons I think they did not choose St. John's:
1. We are a religion-based school, which makes us biased.
2. The student body is too diverse, plus our questions would be mainly about Obama's B-ball "skillz."
3. Ron Artest went to our school... Enough said.
Here are some reasons why they should hold the debate at St. John's:
1. The real Michael Clayton went here, so the questions would be awesome.
2. Obama could give our basketball team some pointers, which would inspire them to win one game.
3. Our law school is one of the hardest ones in the city, so a visit by the candidates would only add more prestige to an already stellar reputation. (I bet you thought I was going to make fun of Ron Artest again).
So, congratulations, Hofstra.
Have fun being famous for one night. Just remember that St. John's was in an Eddie Murphy movie, so we will be famous forever. Also, have fun not being division one. Even though we were suspended from the NCAA tournament for a while, at least we are eligible to be suspended from a division one contest.

hofstra is D1
hofstra has a winning streak in bball against st johns
the commission chose hofstra over st johns not for those reasons either.
hofstra looks like harvard compared to st johns.

Someone's a little jealous they've lost to Hofstra 4 straight times in men's basketball and lost a presidential debate to their rival to the east Posted 10/02/2008 6:20 PMReply
