Bruins came out last night to appear on FSN’s “Lexus Gauntlet Live.” The taping took place in Bruin Plaza; the location of each week’s taping alternates between USC and UCLA.
And apparently, we have more spirit than our Trojan neighbors.
The Lexus Gauntlet is a sports competition sponsored by Lexus. It features a SoCal competition between USC and UCLA and also a NorCal version between Stanford and Cal.
The winner each year is decided after points are tallied based on victories in NCAA-sanctioned sports competitions.
The victor for the SoCal version has alternated since the inception of the competition for the 2001-2002 school year. USC now has won the Lexus Gauntlet four times, including last year. UCLA has won it three times.
According to various attendees, the turn out at UCLA was much bigger than the turn out at USC the week before. Reasons could include the fact that USC does not have a central area of campus like we do with Bruin Plaza.
Or it could mean we just have more spirit.
