Optimus Prime Got Accepted To Penn

Optimus Prime Got Accepted To Penn
With its wildly successful predecessor reigning in about $700 million worldwide, “Transformers 2” is expected to rake in just as much money or more!

What better way to share the wealth than to film on Penn's campus? That's right - Optimus Prime will be visiting the Penn campus very soon! Get excited Quakers, because filming of “Transformers 2” will begin in June!

Penn will become the first stop for the blockbuster-to-be’s film crew. Filming will begin around June 12 and will feature the Quad, The Phi Upsilon Tau fraternity house and possibly Spruce Street and Locust Walk. Being an alum of Phi Upsilon Tau's Weselyan chapter, Director Michael Bay wanted to pay tribute to his fellow brothers.

This certainly isn’t the first time a movie crew has graced a college campus. The New York Times has an article that shed some light on colleges that have lent their campuses to movie crew. To name a few, schools like Manhattan College (appeared in "Six Degrees of Separation"), MIT (appeared in "Good Will Hunting") and Agnes Scott (which appeared in “The Way We Were”) all made appearance in hit films. Although some colleges snub film offers because they're "disruptive", the Penn community is anxiously awaiting the start of the production.

With filming starting this summer and negotiations with actors still is progress, the film is anticipated to hit movie theaters next summer so watch out for its debut!
