The Howard Gospel Choir, or HGC, is a historic group known campus-wide to deliver moving and uplifting songs of praise. Founded in 1968, the choir was the first college choir of its kind in the nation, and this week, they are holding their fall 2008 auditions.

Auditions will be held Wednesday, September 3rd and Thursday, September 4th from 6:30 until 10:00 pm on HU main campus at the Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel. For more information or to schedule an audition, you can email HGC at: hgcauditions@gmail.com. Interested persons can also check out performances and more information at www.myspace.com/howardgospelchoir and www.youtube.com/howardgospelchoir.

Past members of this organization include Grammy Award© winners Richard Smallwood and Coré Cotton (member of Sounds of Blackness), as well as Elbernita “Twinkie” Clark of the legendary Clark Sisters, R & B singer Ángela Winbush and Gospel recording artist Daniel Austin.

Though this critically acclaimed choir has traveled internationally, recorded commercially, and worked extensively with some of the most notable artists in the industry, its objective remains simply to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ through song.
