Long Island Girls (And Boys) Do It Better

Long Island Girls (And Boys) Do It Better
The glorious Jones Beach TowerLong Island Girls (And Boys) Do It Better

With all the beautiful beaches, an easy commute to NYC, an endless supply of delicious bagels, and Billy Joel, it really blows my mind why everyone's always hating on Long Island.  What is it about this magical place that makes people so adamant?  Though, true Long Islanders are never the source of these hurtful words, it always seems to be outsiders, those who only wish they were from Long Island.  So, I suppose I just have to brush it off as a matter of jealousy.

While most of the haters come from neighboring territory (Cough*Jersey* Cough), you can't help but understand why they would want to rip on our fine little Island.  Although, I'd be pretty bitter too if I came from the armpit of America.  But all anger aside, I'd like to use this post to introduce a new plan of action.  In trying to salvage the good name of Long Island, it is my duty to show the rest of the world how truly wonderful it is.  After all, we're not all spoiled, fist pumping, Jager bomb pounding, Jappy brats.  That's like saying everyone from California is fairly represented on The Hills, or everyone in Texas is a gun carrying cowboy, or the citizens of Jersey dance around in the streets to "Who Says You Can't Go Home?"  (Don't forget Jersians, Bon Jovi embodies you).

For the remainder of the summer, I will be reporting on the wonders of Long Island.  I'd be clever and do "Seven Wonders of Long Island," but how could I ever choose just seven?

this couldn't be more true, finally someone came out with it and said it. "After all, we're not all spoiled, fist pumping, Jager bomb pounding, Jappy brats." I think thats how we're perceived, but once we outsiders get to know us, they have to admit its not true. Think what you want dirty jerzy, L.I will always be on top, see you at the BEACH not the shore. Posted 06/11/2008 09:15 AMReply

maybe the Long Islanders that we all like could possibly just be the exception to the stereotype... Posted 06/11/2008 3:00 PMReply
