Serbia Exports Criminal, Keeps Student Fugitive

Tired of seeing Miladin Kovacevic's mug on OTR? So is this disgruntled SUNY Binghamton student who finds the Serbian government grossly hypocritical.

Two days ago, notorious fugitive and war criminal Radovan Karadzic was found hiding out in Serbia, and the country’s government immediately handed him over to the UN.

If the Serbian government does indeed extradite criminals, why won’t they release their kung-fu grip on Miladin Kovacevic, the brute that put a SUNY Binghamton student into a coma before fleeing the U.S.?

Yes – I am aware that Radovan Karadzic committed unspeakable atrocities against an entire country.

Who cares? Hypocrisy is hypocrisy.

If you’re going to feed one criminal to the dogs, you need to feed them all. Don’t play favorites just because one of them is a citizen of your country.

Do the right thing, Serbia. Release Miladin.

Two very different scenarios, and the author's comparisson of them shows he has limited knowledge of international law.

Serbia signed a cooperation agreement with the ICTY under which it is obligated to hand over indictees. On the other hand there is no legal basis for handing over Kovacevic.

When Americans commit crimes in other countries, do those countries even ASK the US to hand them over to be tried locally? Heck no, because they know the US would just laugh at them. The US values its sovereignty above all else, and it is hypocritical of Americans to not expect other countries to do the same.

I would suggest that before the US tries to force Serbia to extradite Miladin, maybe they should have let their AirForce Soldiers to be tried in Italy when the killed some 20-40 people after ripping down a gondala. But, like the US they protected their citizens and tried them in the States. Whats the differences? Oh yeah, I see. A professional who killed 20+ people because he wasn't paying attention and didn't take his responsibilities seriously vs a drunk college student in a bar room brawl who only severly injured 1 person.
Who's behavoiur was worse? Lets be honest and reasonable.

The thug displayed in the picture above nearly beat the guy (much smaller and weaker) to death.
Now his verminous, racist government is protecting him.
This is just one additional example of the benefit that would be accrued in this country if carrying permits were more easily attainable.
Since you never know where and when you will encounter some sub-human animal, and if you are attacked, you would have the right to drop this scumbag with a clean shot to the head.
Serbians are very familiar with this: especially with those defenseless and unarmed.
