Creepy, Sexy or Cool? The Nokia 888

Creepy, Sexy or Cool? The Nokia 888

Nokia's newest concept phone is the Nokia 888.  It is a flexible phone, which means it can be shaped like a clip, a bracelet or rolled up and shoved in your pocket.  The idea is to use flexible battery and touch screen technology to create new ways of communicating called E-motions.  These E-motions are movements that can be sent to other Nokia 888s--as in, instead of sending a text message, you can cause your friend's phone to jump up and dance.

The phone will also use technology that will allow it to record your personal preferences and environments which it has visited in order to learn more about its user.  Could the Nokia 888 be the new Furby?  Sure, it isn't a furry piece of plastic with a beak, but creepy can come in many forms.

Did the makers really think this was a good idea? Posted 06/25/2008 12:29 PMReply

Maybe their next product could be a squishable kind, or wearable as jewelry! I think this looks really tacky, but is a really exciting growth in cell phone technology in the direction beyond just being compact Posted 06/25/2008 1:18 PMReply

People are complaining about the iPhone's reception being terrible (and how it's a bad phone all around), I wonder how this rubber phone's reception is. Posted 06/26/2008 12:57 PMReply

things like this always suck when they first come out, it'll probably be a while before rubber phones are worth having (if they're worth having at all) Posted 06/26/2008 3:42 PMReply
