Hedwig and the Angry Inch Rocks My Socks

Hedwig and the Angry Inch Rocks My Socks

Did anyone catch the screening of Short Bus by John Cameron Mitchell last night at Brown?  I'm totally bummed that I was out of town for the event, but I'm so going to be there for Tuesday night's screening of that most rocking movie, Hedwig and the Angry Inch.  Director John Cameron Mitchell will be there for a Q&A after the event, which is way cool.

If you haven't seen Hedwig and the Angry Inch, you are sincerely missing out on a spectacular flick.  It's not often that a movie holds me riveted from start to finish without me getting up to wander around or, potentially, forget that I was even watching it, but this one held my attention from start to finish.  Not only does it feature transexual punk chick as well as lots gender questioning, which I always find fascinating, it has fantastic music.

The movie was a winner at Sundance, which ALWAYS equals a movie well worth the time of watching, and it combines my love of all things queer with the afore-mentioned great music.  I may not have ever mention this, but I have a (not-so) secret place in my heart for musicals, and not always the traditional ones either.  I loved Hair; I've watched Jesus Christ Superstar more than once, and I like Reefer Madness so much that I've seen the musical live...without herbal additives even, lest the buzz wearing off take away from my enjoyment.  Yes, this is one girl who loves a little rock with her roll... or something like that.

Go, see Hedwig and the Angry Inch, even if you don't think you'll like it.  Just go.
