Syracuse Holds Its Annual Rush Expo

It’s almost that time of year for Syracuse University freshmen and sophomores: Sorority Rush! With an estimate of over 700 girls participating in rush this year, the pressure is on for each of the twelve sororities to outshine the other. However, tonight’s event, the Rush Expo, was all about promoting rush in general, not specific houses. Each station was packed with pictures of parties, philanthropy events, and enthusiastic sisters ready to greet the next group of eager underclassmen. As timid girls wandered to each house’s nook in the large auditorium, I couldn’t help but feel nostalgic as a senior soaking in the last bit of my time here. Still, it was exciting to be a face of comfort and seniority to younger girls, most without a clue. As refreshing as this Expo was tonight, in terms of the sportsmanship among the different sororities, I can only hope that this attitude will extend into the official recruitment process in February.
