Cal has funny ways of congratulating itself. For its 140th anniversary, someone somewhere decided it would be awesome to hang banners all over campus, featuring black-and-white photos of students, captioned by things they wrote, like, "UC Berkeley didn't just teach me, it challenged me."
These banners mysteriously appeared a couple months ago, covering lamposts in front of Dwinelle, down by Valley Life Science Buildings, and along the walkway to the West Entrance. Besides the ones that got vandalized, these banners have not been removed.
