Two stories on the news this week grabbed my attention as a USC Trojan. I believe both are valid reasons why USC is better than UCLA.
* Byron Moore, a wide receiver/safety from Narbonne High School in Harbor City, initially committed to UCLA, but has now changed his decision to move crosstown to USC. Nevertheless, Moore had kind words about the Bruins: “It was really hard, because I really like the UCLA coaches, they are a rising program. I thank them a lot for the opportunity they gave me. In the end, my heart was just at ‘SC.” 'Rising program?' -- maybe so, but in his heart, he knows where the better program lies.
* UCLA film school is calling itself poor, because it lacks the million-dollar donations received by the USC School of Cinematic Arts. USC philanthropists include alums George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis, Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, and even Steven Spielberg (who was denied by USC admissions, but apparently still loves the school!). If anything, UCLA should be more than content with the overflowing donations given to their medical school and research center. Before complaining about being "poor," think about developing a networking system comparable to USC's. Then maybe, the "Bruin Mafia" can give the "Trojan Mafia" a run for its money.
