A Capella

To all ya'll prefrosh plebes: let me rain knowledge down on you.

I've been reflecting on my Tuftonian experience since I've graduated, and one thing I realized is how fleepin' wise I've gotten.  It's just incredible how much knowledge I've acquired, and this wisdom brings the responsibility to share it with all you pleibes.   More specifically, I'll be sharing the things

Thought "Beelzebubs" Was a Weird Name?
For whatever reason Newsweek felt compelled to run a piece on acapella groups.  Maybe they saw those glorious shots of the Rutgers' Chorus Girls Gone Wild!

There is so much disturbing information in the article, that I can overlook the fact that the Bubs dropped $30K to record a CD .

Chorus Girls Gone Wild
Rutgers' award-winning, all-female a cappella group gets a little frisky. Check out the photos here!

"The Mandarins" SU's only all female a capella group performs at The SU Women's choir's final show of the year on thursday (apr 17, 2008), at Setnor Auditorium in Crouse College. The Women's choir is composed of female SU students from all years and majors, a... MORE »
College: The Musical

Last week, male a capella group the Pitchforks [amazingness] teamed up with sketch comedy group Inside Joke [yawn] to produce “College: The Musical”. Expecting a blend of clever song performances and witty banter, I was a tad bit disappointed. The performance was far from a musical or even, really, a collaboration betw

Nassoons-Whiffenpoofs Face-off
Whether you like a capella or not, you've got to support Princeton's Nassoons over Yale's *shudder* old-timey a capella group the whiffenpoofs. The two of them are sharing a stage Saturday night and Tiger Tickets are usable, both to gain access to the event and to hurl at the whiffenpoofs.

Of course, no... MORE »

Too busy getting your Halloween/green/pub on to catch Mood Swing in action Wednesday night (a capella and alcohol are a precarious combination...)?  They may not have had the biggest crowd the Frary steps have ever seen, but the costume-clad Swingers were pretty damn solid.  And lucky for you, a certain blogger... Men's Blue and White has it's first snack concert of the year. They still think that they are really cool. They still think they are really funny. They are still too quiet to hear with Frary's shit acoustics.  There were still newbies in their underwear. They still use boy-band-ish hand gestures. They still do a f... MORE »

My Super Sweet Beelzebubs
The lameness of the Tufts party scene has just been taken to a whole new level: MTV.

Tufts darlings the Bubs recently were the red carpet for a bratty little Massachusetts 16-year-old who threw a party for MTV's Super Sweet 16 (best guilty pleasure on TV, seriously).  But while the hunks of singing male (ahem) ... MORE »

Sorority? A Capella Group? Same Thing.
Oh, college a capella. Another serious cause for alarm on college campuses nationwide (save the Bubs, because they're just ****ing awesome).  But at Tufts, with its measly (and wonderfully meager!) three sororities - maintained only so the campus can legally have frats - college a capella is just a co... Latest comment by Anonymous: I'm not quite sure what this blogger was high on when she/he wrote this post, but the IFC can exist without any nationally recognized sororities. We keep sororities around because every year, girls want to join them.
