Rumors floated around last fall that then-presidential hopeful John Edwards was having an affair with one of his campaign staffers. Eh, big deal, right? He wouldn't be a politician without a tawdry affair or two -- even though his wife is sick with cancer.

Yes.  His failure thus far to deny the rumors points to the truth in them.  Even if the baby isn't his, it's definitely more suspicious than just a simple affair.

No.  Not addressing the rumors is Edwards' way of staying out of low-class lies.  He's just trying to rise above the "tabloid trash" which would sully his good name.
