Maryland likes to brag about being one of the most "aware" schools in the nation. Sure, there may be more crime in College Park then there is in Camden, but at least the students know about it.

Latest comment by Anonymous: You might want to read more carefully because it actuallywas South Campus Commons, according to police records. Also, domestic matters should not be sent out campus-wide because the ex-boyfriend is only targeting his ex-girlfriend. And these sort of issues deserve some privacy.

As we ready to ring in the new year, I wanted to live up to one resolution. I've mentioned more then once that I would respond to the next crime alert that came our way. I finally got around to it, sending a thoughtful e-mail to our favorite crime fighting hero, Paul Dillon.

If you haven't signed up for VT Alerts yet, log onto HokieSPA and DO IT.

They have it set up to where you can receive alerts through instant messages, text messages, and calls to your cell phone.

I hear they've got smoke signals and airplane banners in the works, as well.
