Not much happened today. We had to do quick, impromptu speeches based on a picture that we selected at random. My picture was of three people surfing naked. I’m sure it was some priceless piece of art that had a lot of meaning, but I did

The Hunt for John Yoo: Reader Perspective
Question: Should Professor John Yoo be released from his position at Berkeley Law School, under the accusations that a.) his "torture memos" violate international human rights laws or that b.) his "torture memos" grant the executive branch legal powers that many others of the law profession find to be contestable or simply illegal?
Yes, John Yoo should be fired. His work should be considered illegal, and should not be associated to UC Berkeley in any way.
No, John Yoo should be allowed his position. His work is not guilty of the above accusations.
No, John Yoo should be allowed his position. Regardless of the accusations, it is a university's responsibility to maintain the tenure system.
It's summer, I DON'T care.

The Hunt for John Yoo: Varying Viewpoints
UC Berkeley Law Professor John Yoo, a proponent of legalized torture, is back in the spotlight after a student protest calling for his removal barred him from entering the school's commencement ceremony.
Latest comment by Anonymous: I try to think what it would be like as a first year law student being compelled to take Constitutional Law from John Yoo. I suspect that this prospect has occurred to potential Boalt Hal... MORE »
Conservative Professors at Cal: I Kid You Not, They Exist
Being a conservative at UC Berkeley is like being a witch in Salem. And writing about conservatives at Cal is fun, just like how those crazy Puritans got a kick out of throwing people in lakes to see if they floated.

In short, it's C-span style footage of a Berkeley City Council meeting, followed by short interviews of a grand total of three different veterans, with a flute playing "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" in the background. Enjoy?
Oh No, We Did It This Time
"You keep your First Amendment, I keep my tax-dollars."

Although the local protest on the recruitment station just feels like any other, regular ass Berkeley day, some outsiders are not having it.

David Horowitz Warns Against Islamo-Fascism, Human Decency
Conservative pundit David Horowitz had one core message in his speech yesterday: for the good of America, he wants you to be on constant alert for Islamo-fascists. NY Times Misses the Boat on Racism
The New York Times's eloquently titled article "Film Portrays Stifling of Speech, but One College’s Struggle Reflects a Nuanced Reality" is, shock of all shocks, about our little hotbed of social justice, Vassar College. It's about the Imperialist, MICA's retarded little publication.

Uh huh, that little i... MORE »
