The final project for the course is a group persuasive speech.. That being so, we spent the entire day just working on our presentation. My group decided to appeal to the class to become organ donors, a fact that’s slightly ironic since

Is Safety A Top Concern?
Is Safety A Top Concern?

A recent article in the Examiner recently debated which university was better to attend: Maryland or Indiana. Of course, we all know the answer is pretty obvious (rhymes with Garyland) but the article made some compelling points.

According to the article, more and more parents are urging their

Of course it is. Safety was a huge priority for me when I chose a college.

Totally overblown. Crime can happen anywhere. I didn't choose a college based on how safe I thought the campus would be.

Like Taking Candy From A Baby

According this bitter UMD student, Penn State's "345-year-old" head coach, Joe Paterno, is combing the country stealing young prospects from other universities. Watch out Ann Arbor! JoePa's coming.

Why Can't We Have Cool Speakers?
According to the United Press International, Michigan hosted the Dalai Lama last Sunday. Seriously? The Dalai Lama? I once dressed up as him for Halloween!

In all seriousness, why can't Maryland get together a good speaker or two? I know Mike Wilbon, aka "The Man", is speaking later this... MORE »

Terps Win?? Terps Win!!

To sum up the season so far, Maryland has been pretty bad. North Carolina has been really good.  So when Maryland traveled to UNC for a game, expectations were pretty low.

The result? An 82-80 win on a last second layup that made national
headlines.

Next victim for the Terps? Duke.

Latest comment by Pokey T: I guess I should cry like all the other Tarheels... :(
During the UNC-Maryland game on Saturday, a UNC fan yelling "Go back to the ghetto!" is clearly heard over the cheering and singing. Whoops. Okay, it's embarrassing that one of our fans is so classless, but the really absurd part comes when the Internet crazies make blanket comments l... MORE »
Crime Alert Returns!

Just in time for winter break, the e-mailed crime alert has returned, bringing joy to thousands of Maryland students.

The e-mail, which details any crime that occurs on campus, is a fan favorite as crimes have included stolen flip flops and a "strong-armed" robbery of Yu-Gi-Oh cards. The e-mail had

Looks Like It'll Be A Long Season
At first glance, a score of 75-42 would seem to indicate that the men's basketball team is in good shape. Then you remember that we played Concordia. Until the game started, most fans weren't positive that Concordia existed. The fact that we didn't win by 500 is a scary thought.

Looks like another long season...
Rutgers Loss: Perversely Enjoyable
Despite a depressing fall from No.10 to No. 21, more students stayed past half-time to watch Rutgers lose to Maryland than to see them win against Norfolk two weeks ago.

After the defeat, many proclaimed it "a great game". But if Rutgers continues to lose, attendance to the games will r... MORE »

Maryland: A Safety School even in New Hampshire
Yep, Maryland has once again cemented it’s status as a safety school-even in New Hampshire.

I thought New Hampshire didn’t even really exist, one of those made-up states like Montana, but it turns out even the people who supposedly live there consider Maryland their safety... MORE »
