A certain Battalion writer, who is probably a very bright individual, believes that shooting a schizophrenic to death after he refused to drop his pipe is OK.

The schizophrenic citizen was asked to drop the pipe that he was waving in the air (not attacking anyone with it) and when he did not comply, the cops sprayed him with enough bullets that killed him a few hours later. This writer finds police brutality okay, especially when this schizophrenic citizen was well known among the neighborhood police for his mental illness.

The sad truth is that the police weren't equipped to handle a situation like this. They are usually never trained for scenarious like this. That's why Crisis Intervention Teams exis.

Yet the Battalion and it's writer supports the police's actions that Sunday afternoon and even praises them for all that they failed to do. Is this Battalion's writer just blinded by sheer ignorance that reeks within his natal cord, or is he just a cruel man with sadistic fantasies of cops terrorizing schizophrenics?

We think it's a combination of both.
