AAPD Allows Man in Wheelchair to Rob Bank

A handicapped ex-con enters a police station and tells the officers there about how difficult it was to adjust to life after prison. After an encouraging and heartfelt reassurance from the Ann Arbor cops, who deeply sympathized with this man’s story, the man rolled out in his wheelchair with a smile on his face and opportunity gleaming in his eye. NOT!

You don’t need Matt Parkman to be able to tell that an ex-con coming to talk to cops about his adjustment difficulties just might be planning something. Maybe the “I think prison was much easier” bit didn’t cue them enough, so they sent him right out the door. After all, Ann Arbor cops only know of three things: MIP’s, parking tickets, and eviction notices.

The wheelchair man rolled out of the police station and demanded money from the National City Bank on Main St. He was without a weapon, but the teller obliged to his request. He wheeled two blocks over to Liberty when he was caught and arrested; clearly he had intended to get away. Now he can be happy and live off the Michigan taxpayers’ money in prison and the AAPD can be thanked for a job well done.
