In a few weeks Rush will begin, and many freshmen girls will pay $40 to parade around in the same t-shirt and tote-bag to listen to different chants from sororities. This will be a positive experience for some, while others will burst into tears at rejection from their sisterhood of choice.
Perks of Rushing:
1. Tours of the houses, free food, lots of attention.
2. A potential sisterhood!!
3. You'll make friends whether or not you join a house.
4. General amusement.
Cons
1. Freshmen are forced to believe it's the only way to make friends.
2. Potentially wasting many hours/days.
3. You'll look dumb parading about in that t-shirt.
4. Forced, awkward conversations with strangers.
Either a few houses on campus have started rehanging banners from last fall, or they are unimaginatively reusing the same slogan: "Be Strong, Be Unique, Be United, Be Greek." *sigh*
