Crosstown rival Oregon State looked solid in their season opener tonight with a 24-7 victory over Utah. They were able to shake off a slow start with a steady dose of star running back Yvenson Bernard in the second half. Bernard finished the game with 165 yards on 29 carries.
Now it's up to the Ducks to respond with a dominant performance of their own when they host Houston in their season opener on Saturday, September 1st. Oregon figures to spend most of the game handing the ball off to their own star running back, junior Jonathan Stewart , one of the more talented backs in the nation. If Stewy gets it going on the ground it could be a long day for the Cougars...
Let's just hope we can outdo OSU's performance; they've run enough Beaver Nation commercials this summer to last a lifetime. It's time for us to re-claim our title as the best of the Northwest.
