-Paid off all of the freshman from living in the Hilton so she could have the place to herself.
-Took all the money that would have gone to a stage in Hotung. She seems to have forgotten that in the remodeling.
-Privately pay the smoothie ladies to come to her house after nine. There is no way the school thinks that we don't need smoothies after nine.

I think a lot of students who knew her feel betrayed, sadness, and disappointed by this news. I know that I do. Posted 11/14/2007 8:06 PMReply

Does anyone know how long she's been working at Tufts? Posted 11/14/2007 8:13 PMReply

Having worked closely with Jodie for the past 3 years I am deeply saddened by the events that have unfolded in the past week. The worst part about the entire situation is not the money, but it is all of the sacrifices certain student organizations had to make because they thought that their budgets had been depleted. I commend Tufts for taking quick efforts to take action against Jodie and for committing to reimburse the affected student groups. I also hope that the reasoning behind Jodie's actions are uncovered to give closure to those students who trusted and confided in her for years. Posted 11/14/2007 9:32 PMReply

Seriously -- one woman, $250,000... I guess over 12 years it's not so hard? Man I hope she had a meth habit or something. Posted 11/15/2007 08:12 AMReply

@ Anonymous: Since July?

Dear lord, what has OSA wrought upon us?

The safeguards that were in place functioned as they should have, after all, she was caught. For those who are not directly associated with the OSA there have been on-going audits of all divisions with cash incomes since mid-September to substantiate the information provided via the anonymous tip received over the summer. I've known Jodi for a number of years now. Though no explanation for the behavior will assuage peoples feelings, I am sure there is an explanation. Jodi is a good person. Sometimes good people make mistakes. I, for one, will wait to hear all the details prior to passing judgement. Posted 11/15/2007 5:33 PMReply

I share the sentiments that I think many current and former students and employees feel now and will wait to pass judgment until the facts have been unveiled. Speculation does nothing productive and will drive everyone mad.

//but I am sad for myself and I am sad for Jodie and her family. this is a sad day for tufts, student activities and the people who knew Jodie well

I'm sorry. Jodi was one of my only mentors at the university. She was kind and warm-hearted I just can't believe that she could have done this!!! I guess its a good case of denial I have right now.

This is just so shocking to me... I mean, to be honest, while she was director of OSA, the direct accounting and funding of the TCU money was run by someone else...

Anonymous, you are in a good case of denial, it sounds like you are already defending her when the report says that she already admitted to taking at least a portion of it, so I wouldn't try to pass blame on others who work in the department and are just as stunned as everyone else. but clearly someone saw what she was doing, since he/she did tip off authorities Posted 11/16/2007 09:32 AMReply

While the direct accounting and funding of TCU is run by the Budget and Fiscal Coordinator, Jodie did possess signatory privileges for all student group accounts. Additionally there was a period of time this summer and early this year where the Budget and Fiscal Coordinator position was unfilled as they searched for a new hire after the previous coordinator left. During this time Jodie assumed the responsibility for this position and had full access to all accounts. Posted 11/16/2007 10:12 AMReply

I'm just curious, did this have anything to do with the fact that her partner recently donated a kidney? Posted 11/16/2007 7:02 PMReply

@ Anonymous: Oh in that case, it was _totally_ cool. Posted 11/16/2007 8:11 PMReply

Now that kidney thing is REALLY interesting! The paper said that she was going to use an "affirmative defense" - anyone think that she's going to say she HAD to steal the money to save someone's life? Good luck with that one... Posted 11/22/2007 2:05 PMReply

Unlike many others apparently, I had a really bad experience with her and she seemed very off to me. I think she had a different face with different people. I found her to be overbearing and cold. My casual observation is that people who behave this way are doing so to cover up incompetence of some type. In this case it was theft. I don’t know what type of “affirmative” defense she can come up with. The funds didn’t jump into her pocket. Needless to say, I am NOT surprised about this and I am glad she is gone.
