The FCC just approved a bill that would ban exclusive deals between cable companies and apartment complexes, a seemingly good thing.

Unfortunately, this does not change much in Gainesville; Cox Cable is still the only cable provider in the area.

The bill hopes to break apart the monopolistic strongholds that are keeping companies like Verizon and AT&T (two of the biggest lobbyist for this bill) from edging into the cable television market.

So, two phone companies looking out for their best interests happen to give apartment tenants more freedom.

However, until another company is willing to duke it out with Cox in this little town of Gainesville, the latest Shot of Love episode will continue being provided by them.
