Fewer Dumb Rich Kids Getting Into Ivies

It seems multi-generational streaks of elite privilege are being disrupted in Manhattan, where even previously entitled Spence girls and Collegiate boys are feeling the wrath of Harvard's 7% admissions hammer.

Like, not even one Dalton kid got into Harvard this year!  $400,000 (after taxes!) on a K-12 education and its A- students were totally stuck going to -- gasp -- Johns Hopkins.

Score one Iowa farm kids, zero New York prep school gangstas.

Coincidentally, this is the first thing that appears when one googles "dumb rich kid."

Great, just what Tufts needs - even more froshies betching nonstop during orientation week about how they didn't get in down the street. Everyone knows meritocracies are for poosies anyway. Posted 07/07/2008 11:20 PMReply

whatever, as a dalton alum who went to a supposedly "prestigious" midwestern school, i can tell you that any of the "dumb rich kids" in my graduating class would have been in the top 10% of students at my college. also, while obviously we didn't get anyone in at harvard this year, more than 10% of our graduating class is going to yale or princeton, and i believe our overall number of kids going to ivies was above our average Posted 08/03/2008 10:51 PMReply
