Hottest Girl on Campus: The Results

First Place - Natasha, who is a senior in Kappa and is graduating with a degree in Industrial & Operations Engineering.

I know I should have more to say about each of these girls, but I haven't had the chance to talk to them since the polls closed. It was an extremely tight race and all three of the girls here were in the lead for some period of time. I've talked with all of them throughout the course of this contest and they've all been very nice, helpful and accommodating. And I certainly think they do U of M proud as our top three.

Well, this is it, the first annual Michign OTR Hottest Girl on Campus Contest is over. I really, really did not think this contest would work, as when I started I had exactly two contestants and the inclination that more weren't coming. Soon however, thanks to an avalanche of tips from you guys and nominees having a good sense of humor, we got an overabundance of responses and cranked the list all the way up to 32, which subsequently put an end to the theory that there are no hot girls here at U of M. And we learned that "hot" doesn't always have to be wearing a string bikini.

I was afraid top ten voting would turn into a popularity contest, but since Sports Illustrated picked up the contest, their readers are responsible for about 2/3rds of the votes, results are completely objective and no one can complain about people flooding the polls for their friends. Over 3,000 people voted in the contest (not to mention the 40,000 that viewed the top ten), and I think Umich has gotten far more involved in this than in any MSA election ever.

Seriously, thank you all for making this happen, whether you observed, voted or actually put yourself out there as a contestant. I'm quite happy with what this contest accomplished, despite the misogynistic offensive spectacle critics claimed it to be. As opposed to most stuff I write, this time people were actually able to come together and compliment and support each other, and I will admit that's been a very refreshing thing to see. This was a lot of fun and I hope whoever ends up running this site next year will carry on the tradition.

And now back to finals....
