Illegal Downloading: 4 Realz Tufts?

Illegal Downloading: 4 Realz Tufts?
How many times do we have to read about dumb Tufts students getting letters for P2P illegal file sharing/illegal music piracy on the Tufts network?

The latest news from the Recording Industry Association of America (or NAMBLA) is that 400 more college students are getting letters. And you'd think after all the talk on campus about DirectConnect getting shut down and all the stupid emails that got sent from the Deans that Tufts students wouldn't keep showing up on the subpoena lists!

But no, Tufts is one of four schools listed in the article. Too bad some Jumbos aren't smart enough to use Ruckus while on campus or Limewire while stealing wireless* from their neighbors on College Ave.

*Wireless not available everywhere on campus. Restrictions may apply. See website for details.

The grand shame of it is that loads of these threats have no legal weight at all; basically just a fancy letter asking for cash. The only part more sad is that many people actually pony up the money. Posted 02/26/2008 11:11 AMReply
