It's pretty obvious that Danny Green has set his sights beyond Carolina: not only did he declare himself as a draft prospect to the surprise of the entire UNC basketball community, he also seems to be pretty bitter towards Ol' Roy for not including him in the post-season chats he had with the "Big Three" -- Tyler Hansbrough, Wayne Ellington and Ty Lawson -- as though Roy were deliberately snubbing him as not good enough. Add to that the fact that he has changed his Facebook network status to "UNC Alum" (and the numerous quotes from his father about how he's the next best thing for professional basketball) and I'd call this a pretty severe case of big-shotitis.
Don't get me wrong -- I love Danny more than any other player on the team (well, except maybe Dewey...oh wait...). That's why all this talk of him going pro has got me pointing out the flaws: I'd do just about anything to keep him at Carolina one more year, including stoop to undermining blog entries. But even I have to admit he is sometimes a dog: I've heard all the stories, I've witnessed the late-night booty calls, I know he's a player in more than one sense and I know that with great skillz comes great arrogance...Or at least great expectations. I mean, if you're a hit with the ladies, who's to say you can't also charm the agents?
I just wish he would take a page out of Tyler's book and concentrate more on his shooting percentage than his chances of lucking out in the draft. I think it would pay off, Danny boy!
