When will you people learn, the only reason people do TCU and any other kind of "student government" is because daddy wants them to get in to a good grad school so they can become the best lawyer/doctor/politician in the world! The only way to do that is with an exceptional amount of padding.

@ Anonymous: This isn't big-time politics here. Resume padding and whatnot is always going to be a latent motivation since it's an inherent reward that comes with the position (and rightfully so).

But the extent to which student government types view doing their job well as coincidental with building a compelling resume varies from person to person. Some people actually take pride in doing a good job and make that their focus. Others apparently spend their time purchasing Hawaiian leis and party hats, lest their ego trip not be obvious enough. duncan's a genuine guy - while i'm sure "tcu president" doesn't hurt his resume, he's honestly doing it because he's got big plans for tufts that he wants to spearhead. most of the tcu senators at the biggest jumbo fans on campus, they don't sell their souls to long sunday night meetings just for an extra line on their resumes.
