TCU Presidential Elections Make My Tummy Rumble

TCU Presidential Elections Make My Tummy Rumble
Munchies anyone?

The TCU Presidential elections are coming up on April 23rd...which means that we're all going to be bombarded with flyers and facebook invites and everything for the next week.

The candidates from delicious left to right include Elton Sykes, Duncan Pickard, and CJ Mourning

Which is funny because the administration doesn't care what the senate does anyways.  See: President Bacow flipping the bird to minority communities afraid of his Task Force on Freedom to Discriminate

But I personally am going to miss Mr. Neil DiBiase.  It's going to be weird having the Senate led by a non-jew again.  And even weirder if it ends out being Mr. WASP

Who're you gonna vote for?
Elton Sykes (Class of 2009)
13%
Duncan Pickard (Class of 2010)
39%
CJ Mourning (Class of 2010)
48%
Total votes: 131

Stole the idea right from under me, you sneaky new guy. It's totaly okay though because I don't know anything about the candidates really; I might vote for Duncan since he's just so pretty looking. Also, going by their facebook campaign groups, looks like Duncan is the fave, followed by CJ, then Elton. I was going to leave a comment that said "How long until someone construes this hilarious picture caption as racism?" And was pleasantly surprised to find that someone already had, because it allows me the opportunity to say this: If you are so hypersensitive as to find something like that offensive, you need to take yourself less seriously. Have a nice day. Posted 04/16/2008 10:29 AMReply

yeah. about the racism.

ive actually joked about it with cj and elton myself.

i do believe racism exists on campus, but just because something recognizes someone is black doesn't mean it's racist.

that's what makes something acceptance, not just tolerance.

I hate Duncan with a burning passion but he's gonna win which is sad. CJ and Elton should really run as a team to consolidate the black, anti-Duncan vote but it's not gonna happen. This election is already over before it's started and as usual the black kids don't stand a chance.

Preppy white Tufts kids will vote for Obama to alleviate their racial guilt but would rather have a country-club-esque WASP lead the student body. Pathetic.

so you'd rather people vote for CJ and Elton because they're black?

how about we focus on what they've done?

Yes what they've done is important but that's not why people want to vote for Duncan. They want to vote for him because he's good-looking and has made an assload of "friends" who will vote for him since they haven't heard of the other people. That's politics. Posted 04/16/2008 8:15 PMReply

woah for people suddenly taking the senate seriously.

everyone hates the senate until elections come along. then y'all have opinions

i mean, come on - it's the tcu senate, not president of the united states. yes, duncan is going to win because he's the best candidate, regardless of his race. have we really forgotten that just last year we had a black president? mitch won because he was the best candidate, just like neil won. no one complains about racism on campus until suddenly a white kid could get elected.

in the meantime, check out the candidates debates (thursday and tuesday) and actually listen to their ideas and what they propose for the school. i think you'll find one candidate is far more organized and dedicated and unifying than the others...

most importantly - VOTE ON WEDNESDAY - no matter who you're voting for!
