The Primary Source Was Right All Along!
Apparently the Tufts community has it all wrong. We’ve all just misjudged the situation. See, the Primary Source isn’t an intolerant bastion of hate disguised as a weekly magazine—it’s a “campus paper” filled with “edgy satire.”

Its Christmas Carol last year wasn’t attacking the integrity of minority students, it was merely “poking fun at affirmative action.” And the article that generalized Islam as a hostile and violent religion was simply an innocent “respon[se] to what TPS saw as an overly rosy depiction of Islam during Tufts’ ‘Islamic Awareness Week.’”

So says blogger Greg Lukianoff of the Huffington Post.

Lukianoff is bitching because New York mayor Michael Bloomberg wrongly congratulated Tufts during his commencement speech for never punishing the Source for the divisive articles. In truth, a Tufts disciplinary committee had found the mag guilty of harassment.

So this blogger is asking Bloomberg to take back what he said and demand that Tufts rescind its guilty verdict. Does Lukianoff really believe that “a well-placed word from the Mayor could probably convince Tufts to undo this finding in no time flat?” Never mind the fact that not just the Tufts community but the greater Boston area was livid over the Source’s hate-speech.

Thanks for the alternate opinion, Greg, but maybe you should try regularly reading the joke that is the Primary Source before you decide whether its writers are responsible journalists.
