There Are Homophobic People at Tufts?

There Are Homophobic People at Tufts?
Seeing as Tufts is more or less 3/4 gay, it's surprising to see that people would still write things like this.

True, it's not that bad.  But still it's not something that I'd like to see happen at Tufts.  Especially seeing as today is the Day of Silence, a day devoted to recognizing the discrimination faced by queer people around the world.

The Misanthropist thinks the Task Force on Freedom of Expression should sick Jumbo on the culprit.

3/4 Gay? You're 3/4 intelligent...

That said, the graffiti was still stupid.

Who says "Giant Man is gay," has to be an insult? If you ignore every previous instance of the phrase "... is gay"'s use, it is possible that this graffiti is, in fact, in honor of Day of Silence. Maybe we're taking the negative connotations out of that phrase. And I mean "we" as a society, because I'm not gay.

Giant Man is gay, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I actually suspect the graffiti was done in support of the Day of Silence.

For example, on Coming Out Day last fall, QSA students proclaimed with chalk that "This tree is gay," "This step is gay," "Jumbo is gay," etc., in an exercise in reclaiming "gay" as a positive affirmation of identity.

@ Anonymous:

hi -

i actually organized the day of silence and reported this to Beat Bias. I guarantee you this had nothing to do with the day of silence - we didn't even do any chalking.

and im ashamed that some of you can be so insensitive. We go to tufts. And just because you can post anonymously here doesn't mean you can be **** like the primary source.
