Today's Collegian had an editorial asking the university to, you know maybe take a look outside and see all the ice on the ground before just going ahead with classes. Towards the end of the editorial they point out that they aren't just asking for days off to be delinquents (btw, just to be clear, I was asking for that), saying "Snow days aren't always about escaping pop quizzes and sleeping in late." No, clearly snow days are also for dragging people behind you truck or jeep in the middle of the streets of State College.
So there are at least two videos on YouTube of people being pulled behind vehicles in the snow this week. In the video above there are four people hanging onto some kind of rope system off the back of what looks like a Jeep Cherokee driving down College Avenue between Allen and Fraser. It's actually pretty impressive, although clearly something that should have a "don't try this at home" disclaimer.
The other video, which can be seen here, shows one person being dragged behind a vehicle for almost two minutes. But I can't exactly tell where they are, so I chose to embed the other one. At first it looked like it would be a cheap Jackass rip off, it's actually a pretty impressive feat. Although if you're going to do this again, invest in a better camera.
So I hope Old Main reads this blog (probably got nothing better to do), because this is a perfect example of why we need to have off when it snows. Rather than cracking our heads open falling down on campus, we can do a much better job being pulled from a car.
