Tufts: Where You Can Download Illegal Stuff Faster Than Your Friends At Other Schools

Tufts: Where You Can Download Illegal Stuff Faster Than Your Friends At Other Schools
Apparently, Tufts' Internet connection is the seventh fastest in the nation. Who would've guessed? After spending copious amounts of time in the library during finals, I could have sworn that our Internet was being powered by paraplegic hamsters desperately trying to run on their wheels. Though, to be fair, finals period always puts stress on the network. If anyone remembers the often-missed Tufts Direct Connect, they can attest to our network's lightning-fast upload/download speeds.

So, 30,000 kb/s -- what exactly does this mean for us Jumbos? Basically, just revel in the fact that it takes your friends at other schools seconds longer to download that new Miley Cyrus mp3. And, in the end, isn't that what it's really all about?

[Thanks to an anonymous tipster for bringing this to our attention!]

I've always been left with a sour taste in my mouth after doing a speed test on Tufts internet connection, knowing that I can't use it for devious purposes. It's disgustingly fast. Posted 05/21/2008 1:08 PMReply

Wireless speed may not necessarily correlate to that, since the speed depends on the strength of the signal... So Tisch wireless will mostly be slower than most wired places on campus. Posted 05/22/2008 08:53 AMReply

the funny thing is, you CAN use it for devious purposes, as long as you know how to not get caught. hehehe Posted 05/25/2008 2:18 PMReply

God how I miss downloading HD movies in a reasonable amount of time....

Anyways, lol at the peasant not knowing anything about how this stuff works. Besides the thing about the wireless, direct connect is intra-network, aka completely irrelevant to this little stat.
