Zyron Collective: Lesser-Known Tufts Rap Talent

Think the graduated emcees of Melodesiac are the only rap talent Tufts has seen in recent years? Think again.

It’s time someone got you hip to the alternative rap stylings of Zyron Collective. Drawing beats and inspiration from old-school soul as well as modern electronic music, this group, which includes Tufts junior Sam Obey (the white, blonde one), pushes the envelope a bit more than Melodesiac.

Check out this off-the-wall video for the track "Last Time" (did he really dress up his mom in a New Era and bling?), then take a look at the trio's MySpace page (the song “Back in the Day” is a highlight). For real rap fans at Tufts, this group’s worth a listen.
