Campus Shooting Rumors; LiveJournal is First to Report?
"Baaaaaaaad armed robbers!"

UC Police Department apprehended two juveniles who were connected to an armed robbery that occured around 10 p.m. near Haviland Hall tonight.  One was apprehended near Cory Hall and the other was found near the Greek theater.  No shots were fired and all stolen items were returned to the victim.

However, you only got this info if you were in the know and visited the Berkeley hub at Livejournal.  For those who didn't realize that Livejournal, is evidentally, the quickest and most reliable news source for campus news, you got the following information:

"My friend just texted and said that there's two gunman on campus?  They've robbed that convenience store on Northside with that rad Asian man who sells me beer?"

or

"I heard someone robbed Kingpin donuts.  Did someone rob Kingpin donuts?  Is it still chill to try and buy a bag of holes before I go back to the dorms?"

or

"The library is on lockdown?!  OH GOD OH GOD S:LKFJLAKJFLKFJ"

So, next time there is a crises/emergency/nuclear war, please direct your attention first to Livejournal.  Then, maybe the DailyCal.  Then possibly, the news.

(On a more serious note, I'm glad that no one was hurt.  It just sucks that there isn't a more coherent emergency alert system.  What else are those blue light pole things for?)
