Facebook Lexicon = Stalking en Masse

Facebook Lexicon = Stalking en Masse
Facebook Lexicon is a "tool" that allows you, dearest facebook stalker, to analyze trends of language used on profile, group, and event walls. Now, instead of painstakingly searching through the walls of friends, acquaintances, and yummy-smelling people in your class to find out what everyone's talking about, you can simply type in up to five one- or two-word terms and compare their usage all over facebook! Even better is the feature that allows you to zoom in and find out the number of times a word was posted in a single day.

While this feature is seriously fun, it begs the question: Is facebook doing sh*t just because it can? How much better does being able to compare the number of times "sex" and "herpes" are mentioned make a social networking site? (I tried--sex heavily outweighs herpes, thankfully).

However creepy it may sound, Lexicon is probably one of the coolest facebook-related procrastination tools ever created, and it can make you feel smart because it makes graphs of the results. So, next time you need a five-minute-stretching-into-three-hour study break, search "Lexicon" and creep away.
