Go To Pittsburgh For The French Fries On Your Sandwich. Stay For The Disfigured Residents
I like to make fun of Pittsburgh as much as the next guy, but this is just too easy. It looks like a Julianne Moore film called "Shelter" is going to be filming in Pittsburgh in March and they've been looking for local talent to play some bit parts in the movie. But, they're not exactly looking for model types. So if you're horribly deformed, your ship has finally come in.

"Shelter" is a horror film and the casting call is going out to residents with the following features: "Extraordinarily tall or short. Unusual body shapes, even physical abnormalities as long as there is normal mobility. Unusual facial features, especially eyes."

But apparently Pittsburgh is the place to go when you're looking for deformed extras. Also shooting in Pittsburgh in March will be the Viggo Mortenson and Charlize Theron adaptation of Cormac MaCarthy's (who also wrote "No Country For Old Men" btw) book "The Road."

For this film, set in a post-apocalyptic United States, "[p]roducers are looking for people with minimal muscle tone, long stringy hair and a starved, ravaged appearance. They need men capable of growing a full beard. Also needed: a thin man of any ethnicity who is missing one or both legs. No previous acting experience is needed for this role." Wow, they're really pulling out all the stops.

On second thought, maybe they should be looking in Philadelphia.
